Why should you start with WHY?

There are three things, according to Simon Sinek that are important when trying to “sell’ something or lead others. The obvious answer is to tell others what you are selling.  Then you explain and educate around how it works and operates.  We usually leave the why; why are we selling this product or service  until the end of a conversation.

What do you believe about this product, service or how it relates to the big picture of life?

Why have I  invested my time and energy in professional coaching?

I believe in the power of the coaching partnership to help individuals and organizations fully engage their strengths, choose how they lead their personal lives and organizations so they will move forward  to leverage their inner assets for outer success.

I am continually receiving priceless benefits from coaching  in my life and business through the work I have done with professional coaches and my experience as a coach to others.  It is highly motivating to have a partner that;

  • shares their wisdom, resources and experience;
  • honors your agenda
  • holds you accountable for achieving the results you desire.

When it comes to coaching, the International Coach Federation shares this data;

Benefits of Using a Coach

Professional coaching brings many wonderful benefits: fresh perspectives on personal challenges, enhanced decision-making skills, greater interpersonal effectiveness, and increased confidence. And, the list does not end there. Those who undertake coaching also can expect appreciable improvement in productivity, satisfaction with life and work, and the attainment of relevant goals.

Are you tired of living at the effect of the weather?

I think I am suffering from weather fear!  I came all the way to Memphis to visit my daughter at Rhodes College.   West_Village_149pxAlong the way I tracked my progress in terms of temperature.  Every degree warmer meant I was closer to my destination! Indianapolis was expecting another foot of snow and I was glad to get out of town.  I now find myself in a hotel in Memphis in the aftermath of an ice storm in a city that does not invest in snowplows or salt for the roads.  I decided to stay at the hotel today and not take a chance on the roads.

Once again……..living at the effect of the weather.

When did I begin to believe that my schedule, my agenda and my comfort was the priority of Mother Nature?

Triple alarm wake-up call!

Thich Nhat Hanh talks about a leaf.  Everything in the world is in the leaf.  Water, sunlight, soil, and even the people that planted the tree or kept it alive and loved.  The energy of a single leaf incorporates all of the energy sources available………………………..even the world-wide-web?

“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child — our own two eyes. All is a miracle.”
― Thích Nhất Hạnh

Have I become so attached to the energetic power of the WWW that I have downgraded the importance of nature?

Now I am ready to thank Mother Nature for the nudge to check my agenda at the door and walk in step with the real world around me.

How do you to let someone go with courage and grace?

We have all experienced losses;  the end of a significant relationship, death of a loved one, termination of a job or the withdrawal of customers or clients from engaging in the purchase of products or services.

What each of these cases has in common is that the space (time, energy, commitment) we were saving for this person is no longer needed.  There is resentment, searching for reasons why, blaming, victimhood and a vast range of emotions and feelings going through our mind and body.

How do we respond with courage and grace?

  1. Bless the person wherever they are, whatever they are doing and the people they are choosing to be with.
  2. Create within your mind a desire for the best outcome for their life.
  3. Honor the most wonderful aspects of their personality and believe that eventually,  in their own time,  they will grow spiritually from their experiences.
  4. Know that as you step into your greatness, your authentic self,  you will attract this person back into your life by their choice or you will attract new people into your life that resonate more closely with you.

I attended a Masterclass with Dr. Sue Morter last night and she was very clear about our role in the attraction game.  We don’t need a new marketing plan, a more attractive image or to change our personality to fit what we think someone else wants.  The most authentic, reliable, sure-fire strategy is to be more of who we BE!

Gary Zukov, in his most recent book, Spiritual Partnerships: The Journey to Authentic Power writes:

You are the seed, the plant is your life, and the blossom is authentic power.

When a flower blooms, bees find it.

Bloom where you are planted,  the bees will find you!

Today, will you act “as if” it has already happened?

I want to challenge you to take a few minutes to think about something that you really want.  It may be something of an urgent nature like enough money to pay your bills, a good word from your doctor, a long awaited message from a friend or an opportunity you have been dreaming about for a long time.In Florence Scovel Shinn’s book, The Game of Life and How to Play It, she writes:

“If one asks for success and prepares for failure, he will get the situation he has prepared for. Man must prepare for the thing he has asked for, when there isn’t’t the slightest sign of it in sight.”
Here are the steps to take to prepare for what you want.1. Define what it is you want with the highest level of clarity you can imagine.2. Identify the barriers and thoughts of resistance that could come into your mind.

3. Systematically release each thought or feeling that comes up.  Write id won on a piece of paper and burn it!

4. Create a detailed picture in your mind of you receiving what it is you want.

5. Identify the feeling of receiving what you want in your physical body. Is it a warm, peaceful feeling in your gut, a release of pain in your neck or a simple feeling of joy in your whole being?

6. ACT AS IF IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED!

7. Tell your story to others!

The easy way to balance your life!

Happy Spring Equinox!

March 20th is the first day of Spring 2013! (For more scientific information, check out this link on the Earth Sky website.)  The equality of night and day is fleeting in our universe, just as perfect equality and balance is in every facet of our lives.   As I face the daily challenge of balancing my life, I realize that balance is not a static state.  We might be able to balance a bank account or improve our physical balance through exercise and fun games on Wii Fit (a new part of my physical therapy routine!)  However, true balance is always found in the midst of change.  I tend to think black and white when I visualize balance but reality has taught me that it  is the ability to right oneself in the face of forces beyond our control that really defines a balanced life.

The idea of living a balanced life and  this particular time in our celestial calendar connects intuitively with  ideas I am experiencing through my daily meditation with The Tao.

Practice non-action.
Work without doing.
Taste the tasteless.
Magnify the small, increase the few.
Reward bitterness with care.

See simplicity in the complicated.
Achieve greatness in little things.

In the universe the difficult things are done as if they are easy.
In the universe great acts are made up of small deeds.
The sage does not attempt anything very big,
And thus achieves greatness.

Easy promises make for little trusts.
Taking things lightly results in great difficulty.
Because the sage always confronts difficulties,
He never experiences them.

Until you make peace with who you are, you’ll never be happy with what you have.

Today, I read this quote by Doris Mortman in my daily reading of Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach.

I have to admit that I don’t always keep up with the readings each day but I am determined to complete every one of them by the end of 2013!

Making peace with who I am has been a difficult process for me.  I always thought that I should be more disciplined, a harder worker, better at keeping a clean, tidy house, make more money and create happiness for everyone around me!  Now that I have connected with my strengths, my passion and my purpose, I still wonder…..

Is who I am enough?

In Lesson 186 of A Course in Miracles it says,

What is given us to do, we have the strength to do.  Our minds are suited perfectly to take the part assigned to us by One Who knows us well.

Yes, I AM everything that I need!

Don’t go to work to make money, go to work to spread joy. Marianne Williamson

From A Return to Love

Shift from a sales mentality to a service mentality.

Joy has no cost.

Does it feel like your armor is down if you go to work with the intention of showing love and compassion? A corporation may not have a soul but that does not mean that you have to leave your soul at home when you go to work!
