At a certain point in life, you really don’t know what to get your parents for Christmas. I remember one Christmas I selected a cute little decorative reindeer made with a small log and sticks. My father, an engineer, had only one question when he opened the gift.
What is the purpose of the reindeer?
You can imagine how that phrase was used on and off for quite some time when someone needed to assign purpose to an object that was created for artistic expression. I can only imagine how he really felt about writing those checks to Northwestern University to pay for my degree in music!
Back to the Doritos. I am only picking on Doritos because they have the best ads on the Super Bowl.
What is the purpose of Doritos…………………….
it has very little if any nutritional value,
it contains harmful levels of sodium and fat,
it is designed to make you want to eat the whole bag!
The only thing I can come up with is that
the purpose of Doritos is to fill the coffers of the Frito-Lay Company with money, my money, your money, enough money to pay for a Super Bowl ad!
If you want to talk about the breakdown of our financial system by selling overvalued homes and giving loans to families that could not afford them as a crisis, I would challenge you to think about what Doritos alone is costing most american families. Not only the cost of the product but the cost of feeling really bad after you eat them.
Have you ever heard anyone say, “I feel full of energy and inspiration after I eat a bag of Doritos?”
No, there is guilt, remorse, desire for a corn syrup laden soft drink and a nap!
Stop the madness.
Return to sanity.
Shut down the junk food industry and take control of the health and well-being of this country.
Use the money you are saving to buy good food, good experiences and art!
